Negative Mitzvah 286

  Day 324Day 326

Negative Mitzvah 286: It is forbidden to accept testimony from a wicked person
Exodus 23:1 "Do not put your hand together with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness"

The testimony of a witness is taken seriously by the court and serves as evidence helping the judges come to a just decision.

The witness must be a trustworthy person.

The judge is not permitted to accept the testimony of a dishonest person and use it in considering the case.

Judaism works. We have over 3300 years of testing under every possible condition to prove that. How and why it works is not really so relevant. Is there anyone who refuses to eat because he has not yet fathomed the workings of the digestive tract?

---------------

Everything has its limits, even darkness. As the Zohar says, "When the world was made, a limit was set how long it will function in confusion."
